Rugby speech

Hi, I'm Kaylee, and I'm speaking today about how rugby has influenced New Zealand's culture. The following points. I hope. Will give you a deeper understanding of the importance of rugby to how New Zealander think and interact with each other within rugby.

Firstly, New Zealand didn't actually make up the game rugby, actually English people were first introduced to the game. William Webb Ellis was the man who started the whole game in England 1895.

So Why is rugby New Zealand's national game if we didn't make it?.The importance of rugby in New Zealand…  The role of rugby may have also played a task in the issues between the Maori people and therefore the English settlers who colonised the island.

Rugby has had different effects on other types of people in new Zealand and all over the world, there are all types of different cultures that play rugby as a team it doesn't matter what race you are or colour because we are all the same as humans.

As a country, New Zealand's rugby teams throughout the years have been world famous and consistently one of the best teams in the world. Almost exactly 100 years ago our first new Zealand national rugby team was introduced as the original all blacks. They toured Britain, Ireland and France, they won all of their 32 games.
This was in 1924 so they couldn't fly over to England so they had to go in a boat . It took approximately 6- 8 weeks to get over there. I wonder how they keep fit?.

So I've talked about the guys that play rugby and now about the girls. New Zealand has our own girl national rugby team they are called the black ferns. Their name is mixed with “ the all blacks” and the silver ferns”. The black ferns have won 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2017 world cups for women's rugby.

Hopefully from what I've been talking to you about, you've seen that without rugby, our mana in the rest of the world would be almost non-existent. Also a rugby sportsman has one of the top jobs as an ambassador in New Zealand and overseas.  Lastly, most of the different races in NZ have been able to learn about each other through teamwork, which has enabled our different cultures to come together as a country. Thank you all for listening.
